Nationally recognized artist Jim Mott (and part-time Conservancy stewardship coordinator) will discuss and show his innovative community based Itinerant Artist Project where he stays with hosts across North America in exchange for his paintings. He has produced over 600 works in 35 states and Canada over the past 18 years through this project. Jim will also discuss his new project, the Landscape Lottery, where he uses GPS to randomly select points in a community from which he then paints - challenging him to find art in non-traditional settings.
Jim will also discuss the Conservancy's community painting project, the Genesee Valley 100.
Dr. Jennifer Apple, SUNY Geneseo Department of Biology, will present.
A casual event with passionate people, interesting activities, and lots of fun!
Join us for a brief ceremony to mark Arbor Day by dedicating a tree planted by Geneseo Garden Club along with others planted by the Conservancy using memorial donations.
Join us to help pot 150 native seedling trees and shrubs that will be grown all summer and then used this fall on various nature preserves as part of restoration projects.
Gloves, soil, and plants will all be provided.
Join us for a 3.5 mile round-trip hike (~1.5-2hrs) over fields and uneven and muddy trails to see bluebell flowers on the protected Culvert Farm.
Please carpool, wear boots, arrive early (this is a VERY popular hike and we leave promptly), and bring $5 for a bluebell print raffle (1 for $5, 3 for $10).
Because we are on private property and will have large numbers, we will need everyone to sign in and travel as a group.
There is no transportation available. Participants must be able to complete the round trip.
The hike takes place on private property. Please help us continue this event by only visiting during these scheduled times.
