Bluebell Video! Hikes a Success.
The Bluebell hikes this past weekend were again a major draw for families throughout the Genesee Valley. Over 450 people attended the hikes this year (our conservative count!).
If you missed the hike, or even if you didn't, check out this video showing the spectacular beauty of the Bluebells:
There was no lack of awe for first time viewers, but even amongst returning visitors the sight was magical. The flowers cover the understory of a Maple forest that is part of a property protected by the Genesee Valley Conservancy and the landowners. The beautiful sea of Bluebell flowers are only in bloom for a few short days in the spring. If you missed the hike, or simply want to return to see the sight again, join the Conservancy's email list to receive updates next spring on the bloom timing.
Due to the earlier than expected bloom timing, the planned hikes on May 16th have been canceled. Our apologies if the last minute change in scheduling prevented your attendance, but mother nature has her own schedule! After the 80*-90* days this past week and the heavy downpours on Sunday, almost no blooms remained on the flowers Monday.
For everyone in attendance, thank you for helping preserve the bluebells by remaining on the trails, attending the approved Conservancy hikes, and spreading the word on this magnificent feature of the Genesee Valley that is protected, forever by Genesee Valley Conservancy. Your financial support makes conservation projects like this possible.
