Since 2005, the Oak Tree has been a great way to get in shape, test yourself and have fun in a beautiful setting all while supporting the conservation efforts of the Genesee Valley Conservancy (GVC). Over 430 people participated in the Oak Tree in 2009.

This USATF certified course runs on paved (40%) and dirt roads (60%) through the National Historic Landmark village of Geneseo and the Nations Road Grasslands, identified as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. The course runs past the majestic Oak Tree savannahs of the Genesee Valley and 16 GVC protected properties.

Six water stations are on the course, two with sports drink, along with live musical groups. A restroom will be located approximately at miles 4 and 11. Finish at the Geneseo Central School track.

Course Closure: The Half Marathon course closes at ~12:15. Due to safety and liability concerns, we cannot leave participants out on the course after this time. Please contact us if you have concerns about finishing by ~12:15.

Walkers: The Half Marathon is primarily a running event, but we welcome walkers to join us. If you do not expect to finish the course by 12:15 (a 15min/mile pace), we invite you to start at 8:00am. If you start at 8:00am you will not receive an official time and will not be eligible for age group awards; however, you will still be eligible for random prize drawings. An early start will allow you to complete the course with full volunteer aid and support and you will complete the course while finish line festivities are ongoing. Please include with your register, or by separate note, that you will be walking and starting at 8am.

Kids Fun Run
FREE event for all kids under 10. Runs will be on the Geneseo Central School track immediately following the 5K Run/Walk. Distances will vary and awards to all participants. No registration required.

Geneseo Trio

Travel
The Geneseo Central School is located at 4050 Avon Road, Geneseo, NY 14454

From the North (Rochester)

Take I-390 south to Route 20A (Exit 8); turn right traveling 4.8 miles to Main Street, turn right traveling 1.4 miles to the Central School.

From the East (Syracuse)
Take the New York State Thruway to Rochester (Exit 46); follow I-390 south using the same directions as above.From the West (Buffalo)
Take the New York State Thruway to Batavia (Exit 48); turn left traveling 1.1 miles on Route 98, turn left taking Route 63 south for 25.5 miles, turn left onto Court Street. At the end of Court St, turn left at the blinking light and travel .8 miles to the Central School.

From the South (Bath)
Take I-390 north to Route 63/408 (Exit 7); turn right onto Route 63 and travel 3.5 miles, continue straight on Route 39 for .7 miles, turn left onto Main Street and drive 1.4 miles to the Central School.

Sunday Morning Runs
Weekly, year-round, informal runs starting on Main Street in Geneseo at 8am each Sunday morning. Distances and speeds vary depending on participants. Come walk or run. Bring a friend!

Spectators

For those not participating in the Oak Tree, we encourage you to watch along the course to cheer the participants.

Best viewing of both courses is along the north end of Main Street. The half marathon runners will be on Main St. from 9:00 till 9:20 as they come into town from the School, loop around the fountain and head back out Route 39. The 5K runners/walkers will be on Main Street starting at 9:15 before turning onto Center Street.

Road Closures
Starting before 9am Route 39 (from Geneseo Central School to Village) and Main Street will be closed to accommodate the start of the Half Marathon and 5K events. These roads will re-open at ~9:45.

Village streets (Center, Highland, North) will be closed from ~9:15 until the last runners have left that street.
Town Roads (Nations Road, Roots Tavern Road, and Houston Road) will be closed from ~9:15 until ~11:00.
