The 2020 Project: We Return to Painting

To engage the community in appreciation of its geographic setting, the landscape of the Genesee Valley.

This project will recruit 100 area artists to create a painting of/inspired by the Genesee Valley.  Individuals of all abilities and ages are encouraged to participate.

  • The Conservancy will provide a 12"x12" canvas, once approved.
  • An exhibit will be hung at Silver Lake Brewing Project in Perry
  • A photograph of your painting will be displayed online, in a program book, and via social media


  • Painting must be original and on a provided canvas
  • Painting must be of/inspired by the Genesee Valley (click here for map)
  • $10 participation fee (paid once approved online >select "one-time"< or via mail)
  • Sales are at discretion of the painter (we'll ask about this when you submit your work); pieces for sale must have a minimum price of $50 and minimum 20% commission to the Conservancy if sold (sales will be online Nov. 22-Dec.31).
  • Paintings not for sale or that are unsold, will be available for the artist to pickup on Jan.5
  • When approved for a slot, you will be sent submission instructions.  Paintings are DUE BY OCT 26
  • 1 submission per person (if room allows, multiple submissions may be accepted)
  • We encourage paintings of Conservancy protected lands (click here for map) to help celebrate 30 years of local conservation!

  • When approved, we will send you details on picking up your canvas and returning it when finished

  • Painter-Only Reception: November 17 at 5pm
  • Opening Reception: November 22 at 5pm
  • In-Person Viewing: Silver Lake Brewing Project | 14 Borden Ave, Perry, NY 14530 | Nov. 18-Dec. 31
  • On-Line Viewing: Online gallery will show all of the 100 works by Nov. 18


  • Via an online gallery Starting Nov. 22 at 5pm
  • Contact the office for cash/check payments
  • Paintings will be available starting Jan 5 for pickup
