Island Preserve: Steeplechase Drive Trailhead
Plans for Steeplechase Drive, Geneseo.
A new trailhead to Island Preserve will be established by Genesee Valley Conservancy at 82 Steeplechase Drive.
The trailhead on Steeplechase Drive will connect to a trail on the northern arm of the preserve, connecting to the southern portion of the preserve at the Calvary Drive/Route 39 intersection.
The goals of the new trailhead are to (1) expand access to the preserve for community members and (2) use landscaping to demonstrate how native species can be used in residential areas.
A combination of native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and other herbaceous plants will be used to line the trail path, creating a visual buffer for both neighbors and preserve visitors.
