Railroad Bed Trail

About This Place

This multi-use trail is ideal for equestrians and hikers and is approximately three miles in length, passing through forests and open areas with outstanding views across farmland of the Genesee Valley.

The property runs along a former railroad bed, previously connecting Rochester and Nunda between the 1840’s and 1950’s. The land was stripped of rails and ties post-rail use.

Our Management

Our primary goal is to maintain this trail to provide access for hiking and equestrian enjoyment.

To fulfill our primary goal, we mow the trail surface and trim back the edges of shrubs and trees to keep the trail open and accessible. We also occasionally remove invasive species and plant native trees and shrubs to improve habitat quality and maintain a barrier with neighboring properties.

Help Maintain This Preserve

Please contact us if you see issues out on the property or if you wish to help look after the trails and improve this place for others.

This nature preserve was made possible by a land donated from Edward and Jacqueline Harris.
