Conservation Easement Intern: Alexis Cipriani
My name is Alexis Cipriani. I am a senior Sustainability Studies major on the pre-law track at SUNY Geneseo.
This spring I came into the role of an intern at the Conservancy, where I worked diligently on assessing the organization’s conservation easements.
My responsibilities included creating templates, identifying essential criteria, and analyzing reserved rights. The final phase of my work focused on supporting the development of Conservancy approval protocols for the exercise of these rights.
This role strengthened my reading comprehension of dense legal documents and deepened my understanding of environmental and property law across local, State, and Federal levels.
By evaluating a range of easements, I gained valuable insight into how legal frameworks intersect with land protection. This internship has provided a strong foundation for my pursuit of a legal career and I am grateful for the professional experience and connections made within the local community.
