Genesee Valley Conservancy has named Derek Schrank of Rochester as its first Director of Communication

Over 1,000 acres protected in Genesee County by Stein Farms as early success of farmland protection in the county continue!

Genesee Valley Conservancy has secured the purchase of 108 acres of field and forestland as part of a strategic enhancement of Jersey Hill State Forest in Birdsall, Allegany County.

Genesee, Wyoming and Livingston County farmland owners are invited to workshops on farmland protection opportunities.

The Marquart brothers are the farmers behind NY Chips, a brand found on grocery store shelves in the region.

This year, we’ve taken on ownership of a historic 70-acre property that lays just across from York Central School.  This forested property includes a section of Bidwell Creek, but most significantly it has foundations and remnants of an Italian mining town that existed from 1890-1923.

Thanks to brothers Gordon and Robin McClellan, 492 acres of farmland overlooking Conesus Lake are now protected!

Genesee Valley Conservancy has received funding to protect 976 acres of forestland across the Genesee River watershed as part of the New York State’s Forest Conservation Easements for Land Trusts grant program.

Alexis Cipriani graduated from SUNY Geneseo this spring. She completed an internship to streamline our conservation monitoring across our 160+ easements.

Staff joined volunteers for a workday to begin native planting on the coming trailhead access on Steeplechase Drive in Geneseo, providing this neighborhood access to the preserve.

Sierra Doody is a rising senior at SUNY Geneseo. She completed an internship in the spring focused on technical mapping projects using GIS.
